Having contractions, feeling like you're in labor can be very confusing and as your doula, I will be there to support you and guide you through your experience. I will help you understand when it is the right time to get to the hospital or call your midwife. Based on your birth preferences, I will advocate for you and hold you up with positive energy and supportive laboring techniques.

Baby’s first feeding Support

  • Breastfeeding baby - Getting that first latch can be easy for some mothers but not for others. I will provide personalized care to support you in your breastfeeding journey including latch and breastfeeding holding positions.

  • Bottle-fed baby - Taking to a bottle isn't always easy either and I will help you and baby with proven techniques for positive and successful bottle feeding.

As a Doula, I  Do Not:

Perform any clinical tasks

As your doula, it is not my role to take the place of your primary caregiver. I will not perform any clinical tasks or assessments. I will, however, provide you guidance on what to ask your caregiver each week/month of your pregnancy and help research or guide you to evidence based research so you have all the information needed to make informed decsiions

Make decisions for you

While I won't make decisions for you, I will not leave you feeling alone in your decision. It will be my goal to provide guidance to information or connect you to professional resources to gain other perspectives or professional opinions. I will help organize any thoughts you have in a supportive and nonjudgmental way.

Speak to the staff on your behalf

It is important to me that you feel your birthing experience is positive and without conflict. While I will most definitely advocate for your birthing preferences, I will do so in a positive way. While I cannot speak to the staff on your behalf, I will answer any questions you have and create spaces for private discussions in case you need time to evaluate your options.

Project any of my own beliefs onto your experience

Every birth is different and every mother's birth preferences are unique. As your doula, you will not feel judged or subjected to my own beliefs.

Postpartum follow-up visit

Discuss and revisit birth experience, evaluate latch and breastfeeding holds, discuss baby's weight gain, mother's postpartum care and healing, and overall assessment of needs and support. Connection with resources is a critical part of after care including baby wearing, connecting with other mothers, weighted feeds, baby continued weight gain, fussy baby support, sleeping techniques, healthy food options, postpartum depression or baby blues, reflux, and gas problems. Whether I provided you continued postpartum support or connect you with others, it is important to me that my clients feel supported and connected.
